Manchester United: What Garnacho did to force a move to Chelsea speaks volumes | Soccer | Sports

Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly made it clear that he wants to move from Manchester United to Chelsea just months before leaving the club. Garnacho left United last summer and joined the Londoners in a deal worth up to £40 million. Since leaving United, Garnacho has made 38 appearances for Chelsea, scoring just eight goals in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

The Argentina international had to face a managerial change during his first season away from United, with Chelsea bringing in Liam Rosenior to replace former manager Enzo Maresca in January. Just months after leaving United, new developments regarding Garnacho’s future have emerged, shedding light on his final season at Old Trafford.

Further reports suggest that Garnacho was keen to join Chelsea in January last year, with Garnacho’s agent reportedly visiting Stamford Bridge in the same month.

Garnacho’s agent is former Chelsea player Enrique de Lucas, but it remains to be seen what will become of the former United star.

Garnacho made it clear last summer that he wanted to leave United, publicly criticizing the club’s former manager Ruben Amorim after he chose to relegate the player to the substitute bench in the Europa League final against Tottenham.

The situation worsened when Garnacho was left out of the squad for the final game of the Premier League season against Aston Villa, and Garnacho recently spoke candidly about his final months as a United player.

“I remember over the last six months that I haven’t been able to play as much as I used to at Manchester United,” Garnacho recently told Premier League Productions.

“I started sitting on the bench. It’s not that bad – I was only 20 years old – but in my mind I felt like I had to play every game.

“In my mind, maybe it was me too. I started doing bad things. But it’s just a moment in life and sometimes you have to make decisions. I’m really proud to be at[Chelsea]and to still be in the Premier League with a club like this.”

“As for United, I have nothing to say about the club, anyone at the club or my teammates. It was just a moment that changed and life goes on. I have no regrets.”
