Bayern Munich advanced to the last four of the Champions League with a thrilling victory over Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena, but goalscorer Alda Güller was sent off by the referee at the end of the match.
Real Madrid star Alda Güler was sent off seconds after the Spanish team suffered a dramatic defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The La Liga giants produced one of Europe’s all-time classics with their German opponents, with the home team winning 4-3 and winning 6-4 on aggregate.
But the final scoreline was just the beginning of the drama. Türkiye’s playmaker Güler, who scored two goals in the match, was shown a red card by the referee after the match.
The 21-year-old was dismissed shortly after a number of Real players, including England’s Jude Bellingham, surrounded the referee in protest at the decision to send off French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. Guler was one of the people who strongly admonished the authorities.
Camavinga received a second caution for carrying the ball away and was sent off late in the game. His first warning came after a cynical foul on Jamal Musiala. Protests reportedly continued inside the tunnel after the match.

Real manager Alvaro Arbeloa harshly criticized Camavinga’s sending off. He told TNT Sports: “I can’t believe they would send a player off for something like this. It’s unbelievable. For a play like that, for a game like that, you can’t get an ejection for this. We’re really upset, angry and disappointed. All of this is really unfair.”
Bayern made the most of his sending off, with both Luis Dias and Michael Olise scoring late goals, as they progressed to the semi-finals and will face reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The night actually started on a positive note for Güler before he was given a red after taking advantage of a painful mistake from Manuel Neuer to give Real the lead within the first minute.
Aleksandar Pavlovic equalized for Bayern just four minutes later, and Guler, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé exchanged further shots before half-time. Dias and Olise scored some eye-catching late goals to seal victory for Vincent Kompany’s side.
In the other semi-final, Arsenal will face Atletico Madrid. The Gunners defeated Sporting Lisbon. A narrow victory in Portugal proved to be enough to advance. Atleti defeated Spanish rivals Barcelona to advance to the last four.
The first leg of the semi-final will be played on April 28th and 29th, with the return leg scheduled for May 5th and May 6th.
This season’s Champions League final is scheduled to be held on May 30th at Budapest’s Puskas Arena.
