United will also be without Lisandro Martinez, who was sent off for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair on Monday night. The Argentine could face a three-match suspension for violent behavior, meaning Carrick will need to make further changes to his defense before the weekend.
With six games remaining, United will be hoping to finish the season strong and qualify for the Champions League. Here at Express Sport, we’ve got all the latest developments coming out of Old Trafford.
A transfer agreement has been reached
Altay Bayndir has reportedly reached an agreement to leave Old Trafford and return to Türkiye this summer. The reserve goalkeeper joined from Fenerbahce in September 2023 for a fee of £4.3 million.
However, he has made just 17 appearances in the past two-and-a-half years, filling in for Andre Onana and Senne Lamence.
Bindir played a few games at the start of the season, but the arrival of Ramens from Royal Antwerp saw him drop further down the pecking order once again.
Turkish publication Fanatic reported that the 27-year-old has agreed personal terms with Besiktas, who were linked with the goalkeeper in January. It is understood that INEOS will not prevent the Turkish stopper’s departure.
The transfer is expected to be completed by the end of the season. His contract at Old Trafford runs until 2027, and the club should secure a decent amount for his departure.
United backed in £90m battle
United have received a timely push to sign Aston Villa’s Morgan Rodgers. Sky Sports France claim the 23-year-old is “very open” to a move to Old Trafford if they qualify for the Champions League.
European football is said to be a key factor in England’s decision-making for next season. Chelsea are also interested, but United’s current sixth place could work in Rodgers’ favor.
Arsenal and Bayern Munich are also interested, with Villa valuing Rodgers at around £90m.
With the World Cup approaching this summer and Rodgers expected to feature prominently for England, United may be keen to finalize a deal quickly.
