Reuben Amorim left the door to Rasmus Hozilund’s departure this summer despite his goal against Manchester United striker Bournemouth. Rasmus Hojlund began scoring in United’s impressive 4-1 victory at the Chicago Soldiers Field amid the club’s efforts to sign Benjamin Sesco.
Red Devils reportedly chose Sesko, targeting strikers who are more preferred over Ollie Watkins as Amorim is about to complete an offensive overhaul. Hojlund’s future has since fallen into serious doubt and is said to have interest from multiple suitors.
United No. 9 is one of the club’s players who endured the disastrous season of the 2024/25 season, scoring four Premier League goals.
However, he has shown a glimpse of preseason improvements so far, reminding Amorim of his pedigree score against Bournemouth.
After full time, when he quized about his striker situation, Amorim emphasized that he was happy with Hozilund’s progress.
However, the Portuguese head coach was unable to confirm Danish International’s status, hinting that plans to sign United’s new striker were in full flow.

“I’m really happy with Rasmus. (But) I don’t know what will happen until the end of the market,” Amorim explained.
“Strikers work well and help the team. That’s really important. Ras is improving.”
He added to Club Media: “For me, it’s more than a goal. For him, it’s more important than a goal, and for fans, it’s probably more important than a goal.
“We need a goal, but the way he connects plays in this moment, the way he’s fighting for the ball…

“Sometimes we get pushed, we can kick the ball (upfield) and he connects with the ball. That’s so important for us to play better, so he does a very good job.”
Hojlund’s pre-season exploits will not derail United’s attempts to seal their deal with Sesko, but they can ensure he will stay in competition with the Slovenians.
Negotiations are not easy as RB Leipzig is believed to guarantee a £64 million extra charge and a percentage of future sales.
However, United are showing clear signs of calibration into the Amorim system, leaving two friendly matches against Everton and Fiorentina.
