Self-confessed Tottenham fan Alex Scott fulfilled a childhood dream by scoring Bournemouth’s winning goal against Arsenal on Saturday. But he wasn’t the only one to enjoy the goal, it meant just as much to his Spurs-mad father Noel and his good friend Antoine Semenyo.
The Scot revealed he sent a text to the explosive Manchester City attacker as soon as he returned to the away dressing room at the Emirates after paying a huge tribute to his former Cherries team-mate in the Premier League title race.
Asked to rate the title picture, the 22-year-old said: “Obviously they (Arsenal) are top of the league. They’re both tough places to come to. Man City away is always a really difficult game and a win is a win.”
“Antoine is currently at Man City so I have high hopes for Antoine, but Arsenal have performed well all year so whoever wins it, they totally deserve the award.
“I texted him afterwards and obviously he was really happy with our win.

“We’re still very good friends. He’s one of my best mates in football. So he always texted me after that game. I’m very happy with the goal and of course the win.”
“The tables say they’re the best team in the league right now, so it’s a big statement to come here and get a win like that. Hopefully we can start from there.”
Given Scott’s background supporting Spurs, there were plenty of other messages on his phone as well. Despite the Europa League winners’ struggles this season, he feels no need to hide his lilywhite status.

He added: “Yes, I support Tottenham, but that doesn’t have much to do with today. But as a kid, it was definitely a dream for me[to score against Arsenal].”
“Bournemouth are my team at the moment, but I’ve been a Tottenham fan since I was a kid, so I would have been really happy as a kid.”
The Scot was included in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad last November but was not selected in March despite a high-profile season at the Vitality Stadium.
Still, he looked at the plane gate crash at the World Cup, concluding, “Of course, that’s the goal. I think every player wants to play in the World Cup.”

“Thomas called me before the last camp and said, ‘Look, you’re not going to participate this time, we’re going to look at some other players,’ but I’m going to continue to focus on myself and continue to play as well as I can.”
“Hopefully, I can get the best pictures for the summer. It’s a huge honor for me to even be part of the conversation about potentially competing.”
“Of course, the dream would be to play for my country and get to the World Cup, but that’s not really what I’m focused on at the moment.”
