Sunderland have condemned the racist abuse suffered by Brian Brobbey after the win over Tottenham and called for strong action to be taken.

Sunderland have made public racist abuse against Brian Brobbey and called on authorities to take swift action.
The Dutchman, who moved to the Stadium of Light from Ajax in the summer, was targeted after the Black Cats saw off Tottenham, pushing them even closer to elimination.
Sunderland took a tough stance against the abuse Blobby suffered, highlighting the fact that this is not the first time one of their players has had to endure such disgusting behavior. As a result, they have made it clear that they want action to be taken.
“Sunderland AFC condemns in the strongest possible terms the racist abuse directed at Brian Brobbey on social media following Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur,” the club said in a statement.
“We stand firmly behind Brian and offer our full and unwavering support. This is not an isolated incident. The recent abuse of Romain Mandl and Lutcharel Guiatruida highlights the continued and unacceptable frequency of this behavior, both inside the stadium and online.”

“The club has reported this incident to the Premier League, relevant social media platforms and the police and expected swift action to be taken against those responsible.
“Racism is abhorrent and has no place in our game or in our society. We will continue to speak out loud and unapologetically whenever racism occurs. Football must be a safe and inclusive environment for everyone, no exceptions.”
Sunderland’s frustration was particularly evident when recalling other racist incidents involving players
Brobby made a huge impression for a side that was in danger of being relegated, scoring six goals in 25 games. The 24-year-old scored a memorable equalizer against Arsenal earlier this season, scoring in stoppage time against the Premier League leaders.
The Dutch star led the way as Sunderland beat Tottenham on Sunday. Immediately after this, Nordi Mukiele’s shot was deflected by Micky van de Ven and into the back of the net, resulting in the winning goal.
