Andy Robertson has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

Robertson has been at Anfield Giants since 2017 and has helped the club achieve a number of major accolades over the past nine years.

“I think it’s now time for me to move on and I’m going to look back on the past nine years with a big smile on my face,” the Scotland defender told the club’s website.

“I think it’s better for me to go out because I can focus completely on the team from now until the end of the season.

“I think it’s important to do that and I’ve always done that. But there will come a time when I can say an emotional farewell and tell the fans and everyone associated with this club what it means to me. It will come to an end.”

“I don’t think I’m ready for that yet. I’m just trying to get that out there and be open and honest with everyone.”

Under Robertson, Liverpool won the Premier League title twice, in 2020 under Jurgen Klopp and in 2025 under Arne Slott, the first of which was the club’s first league success in 30 years.

They also won the UEFA Champions League in 2019, and have recently won two Carabao Cups and one FA Cup.

“Leaving a club like Liverpool is never easy and it has been a huge part of my and my family’s life for the last nine years,” Robertson added.

“But for me, the players move on, others move on. What remains the same is the club and of course the fans.

“I’ve had a great nine years here, and I think it’s well documented, especially in the last year or so. I had the chance to leave, but I didn’t take it because of how difficult it was to leave this club. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

“But I know football moves on, I know teams move on, and I think now is the time for me to move on and make the next move and wherever my career takes me.

“I will always look back on my great memories at this football club. I have given my heart and soul to the club for nine years and I don’t have many regrets.

“I have grown as a man and as a person. This club will always mean the world to me and the fans will mean the world to me. This has been a hell of a journey.”

Robertson feels his opportunities for first-team appearances this season have been limited by the arrival of Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkes, who arrived from Bournemouth for £40m last year.

Liverpool have had a frustrating season all season. They currently sit fifth in the Premier League, but were eliminated by Manchester City in the Emirates FA Cup last weekend and lost 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Slott’s team will play two important home games in the coming days. They will face Fulham in the league on Saturday and PSG in the second leg of the Champions League on Tuesday.
