Michael Oliseh has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, with the Bayern Munich star putting in an impressive performance in the Champions League away game against Real Madrid.
Thierry Henry praised Michael Olisse after the Bayern Munich attacker helped the German champions secure an impressive 2-1 win away to Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Olise, 24, has taken his game to a new level since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace for £50 million in the summer of 2024, tormenting Los Blancos at the Bernabéu on Tuesday night, teeing up Harry Kane for the visitors’ precious winner.
Jamie Carragher described Olysee’s performance as Henry overcame the French international’s destructive power as “one of the best performances” he had seen from any player this season.
“Michael is a special player. He has a different way of looking at the game, a different way of thinking, a different way of looking at life,” the Frenchman told CBS Sports.

He continued: “When he gets the ball in his hands, he sees things that others don’t see. He perceives the game differently, he sees it with his head more than his eyes. He tries to imagine what will happen the moment the ball leaves the goalkeeper. He has to predict what will happen next.”
“Everyone knows he can dribble. He has a unique way of looking at the game and life. So off the field sometimes people don’t understand him. But he’s a fun guy, a great guy. Off the field he doesn’t say much, but when he has the ball he speaks very well through his play.”
Olise’s growth overseas has been attracting attention in the Premier League, and there is speculation that Liverpool will be looking to sign him as Mo Salah’s long-term successor in the summer.
The I-Paper reported last month that the Reds were considering the possibility of signing two players – an established star and an up-and-coming talent – to fill the void left by Salah after his final season at Anfield, and Oliseh is a player of keen interest.
However, the paper goes on to point out that there are “doubts” whether Olise would consider leaving Bayern, who are currently enjoying an excellent record under coach Vincent Kompany.
Steven Gerrard confirmed earlier this week that he would select Olise to replace Salah, but the Liverpool legend admitted the winger may not be available.
“If you’re aiming for Salah, there’s a concern that there are very few players like him,” Gerrard told talkSPORT. “Olise will be one of them, but I don’t think he will be available.
“From experience, if you’re close to Liverpool, you’ll have different options in your reinforcement squad, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the same. For example, when we had to replace Mane, we brought in Dias, who we signed, but he was a slightly different player. When Suarez and Torres left, they had different types of options to replace players.”
“Liverpool have a great track record of recruiting top players, so I have absolute confidence from a reinforcement point of view that Liverpool will have other options. They need to replenish his goal involvement, which is very difficult, because he has been great for Liverpool for many years.”
