Jadon Sancho has endured a harrowing period as a Manchester United player, but his nightmare at Old Trafford could finally come to an end this summer

Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Manchester United failure Jadon Sancho for a third time, club chief Lars Ricken has revealed. The English winger, signed for £73m in 2021, has had a nightmare at Old Trafford.
He has scored just 12 goals in 83 appearances for the Red Devils, having spent the past two-and-a-half seasons on loan. Sancho will be at Dortmund for the second half of the 2023-24 season, and was also at Chelsea last season.
The Blues were obligated to make the deal permanent, but paid a penalty to get out of it. Sancho went on to play for Aston Villa, but only scored once during his time in the Midlands.
And with his contract set to expire this summer, he will be leaving the club as United have chosen not to exercise their option to extend his contract for a further season.

Dortmund’s managing director Ricken has now stated that Sancho is one of the German side’s potential targets. He told Sport Bild: “We are currently observing and analyzing many players to see if they can make us better. We are doing the same with Jadon.”
“Of course, we are looking for attacking players who can bring quality and help immediately and who do not require an unrealistic transfer fee. Defensively, Niklas Süle will be leaving the team and Emre Can will also be out for a while, so we are thinking in that area as well.”
Sancho endured a tough season at Villa, starting just 17 games in all competitions. His only goal came in a 1-0 away win against Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

However, manager Unai Emery hinted earlier this year that he was open to making the move permanent. “Not yet, but he’s a great player and I hope he can help us by adding quality within our organization, as he is doing.”
“He will need another contract and maybe he can sign here. If he plays his best football, we will want him. But it is also possible that other teams will be involved in their interest in him.”
Commenting on his performance at Villa, Emery added: “In the first half of the season, he wasn’t good enough. He tried, he tried, but he didn’t get the performance that we needed. Now he’s getting better. He’s a test for himself and for us.”
