Andre Onana was loaned to Turkish club Trabzonspor last summer, but once that move ends, it appears the Cameroonian goalkeeper has no future at Old Trafford.

Manchester United remain determined to move Andre Onana, despite the goalkeeper’s desire to revive his career at Old Trafford. The Cameroonian stopper joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan deal last summer after a difficult few seasons.

Onana will have two years left on his contract with United when his contract expires, but he has already expressed his desire to return and compete with current stopper Senne Lamence for the No. 1 shirt.

However, club leaders appear to have a different view on the former Inter Milan goalkeeper’s future. According to the Mail Online, United have no plans to bring Onana back to the club and would like to move him on to further reduce their wage bill.

Onana’s representatives are expected to hold talks with the club in the near future, but another exit is thought to be the most likely route, whether it be a permanent transfer or another loan. United hope to recoup the majority of the £47.2m they paid for him in 2023.

Trabzonspor vice president Zeiyat Kavkas recently admitted that the club cannot afford the fee. “Our president has communicated in good faith to the community in line with the realities of Trabzonspor, as the acquisition of Andre Onana from Manchester United is in the range of 45 million to 50 million euros,” he said.

“I don’t think this information has affected Onana at all because he wants to continue working for a club in Europe, even if it’s not in England.”

“His family thinks the same way. The president also wanted to explain the reality of Trabzonspor. But when the situation changes, the situation changes.”

Trabzonspor coach Fatih Teke also admitted that the goalkeeper will decide his future. “Onana is on loan to us. There were games where he didn’t play well, but there were also many games where he played well.

“I’m very happy with Onana’s positivity, not only in terms of performance, but also in terms of personality. You come from one of the best teams in the world and you went through problems too. He feels very comfortable here. He feels very comfortable here.”

“The president’s words reflect Onana’s own thoughts, but they can change during the match. He is very happy here, but he will decide for himself about his future.”

Onana has made 25 appearances for Trabzonspor this season, but has kept just six clean sheets.
