City bosses have identified the England international and Nottingham Forest midfielder as one of their main targets in the summer. And Etihad bosses are confident of signing Anderson in a £65m deal.
Anderson is being targeted by a number of clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham. However, City are understood to be in pole position to sign him.
Mr Anderson revealed his preference for Etihad Airways. And the 23-year-old is expected to leave Forest regardless of whether the club avoids relegation.

City hope to finalize a deal in the early summer before Anderson heads to the North American World Cup with England. This avoids the risk of his rating increasing if Anderson is successful in the tournament.
Anderson has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League this season. He joined Forest from Newcastle in 2024 for around £20 million.

He received his first call-up to the England squad in August for the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, but had to wait until the following month to make his debut in the 2-0 win over Andorra.
Since then, he has been one of manager Thomas Tuchel’s most impressive performances and is almost certain to be selected in Germany’s final World Cup squad.
