The local derby between Slough Town and Maidenhead United in the National League South descends into an ugly brawl after a poor challenge in the dying stages of a 2-2 draw.

The manager of a non-league football club has been sent off after headbutting an opponent in an ugly scuffle during the dying moments of a local derby. Maidenhead manager Ryan Peters has been sacked after clashing with Slough Town manager Scott Davies following an on-pitch flashpoint.
In a tense game on Friday, Slough came back from 2-0 down to salvage a point with a 98th-minute equalizer. However, it was Slough’s Milan Trotman’s challenge on Maidenhead’s Jordon Raggett that caused the melee.
Trotman escaped with impunity despite a futile challenge that left Raggett with an ankle injury. A scuffle then broke out after a Maidenhead player rushed onto the pitch from the dugout to reprimand his opponents.
Video uploaded to social media from the sidelines showed the ugly scenes that followed, with Slough manager Davies falling to the floor holding his face after an apparent headbutt by Peters, before players from both teams scuffled.

Davies was then approached by another member of Maidenhead’s coaching staff. Once things calmed down, Peters was given a red card and the final seconds of the National League South game were played.
Explaining his version of events, Slough’s Davies told the club’s YouTube channel: “He[Peters]stuck his head in with my opinion. That shouldn’t happen on a football pitch. It’s embarrassing. We’re going to lead by example. I’m not a fan of things like that. I’ll never stick my head in his truth.”
“I thought we’d managed to break it up, but what happened next was I was on the floor and the assistant manager jumped on me. It was funny to say the least. And I honestly don’t know what happened after that. I looked up and there were a lot of people being thrown around.”

Maidenhead manager Peters admitted he was at fault for escalating the brawl. Mr Peters told the Maidenhead Advertiser: “It’s a terrible tackle. It’s a red card level tackle and the lad doesn’t even have a booking.”
“I walked over to make sure Jordan was okay. Then one of our strikers got shoved by the manager. I grabbed the manager and told him not to shove them.”
“I’ve headbutted somebody and gotten ejected. I’ve never headbutted somebody in my life and I never will. Scott definitely took full advantage of it, so he got me ejected. That’s my fault, because if I had stayed in the dugout, none of that would have happened.”

“Everything looked really disjointed and a mess, and the brawl at the end was inexcusable for both the players and the staff. This is something we don’t want to see, but we’re not going to back down and they’re not going to back down. It’s been going on for too long,” Davis said.
He added: “Ryan Peters came up to me and said ‘keep your hands off the striker’ and shoved his head against my head. That’s not what I expected. I’m not that confrontational but he’s obviously lost his head over this result and that’s the way it is.”
“He will pay for it with a red card, but for me it’s something I don’t want to be involved in and can’t forgive. Things like this happen and I’m sure he regrets it and I do as well.”
