Chelsea were shaken by Enzo Fernandes’ comments during the international break, but now fellow star midfielder Moises Caicedo has spoken openly about Real Madrid.

Chelsea star Moises Caicedo could not rule out a move to Real Madrid when asked about the future of his career. The Blues have been reeling from captain Enzo Fernandes’ affair with Real, and now Caicedo’s presence has added to the uncertainty surrounding the team.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has decided to drop Fernandes for the next two games, saying his recent comments had “crossed the line”. The Argentina international admitted that he loves Madrid and would like to live in Spain. Fernandes’ representatives claimed his suspension was “totally unfair”.

His words come at a difficult time for Chelsea, who have lost four games in a row and been knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, dropping them to sixth place in the Premier League. Rosenior was trying to stabilize his side ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final match against Port Vale, but there was clearly dissatisfaction within the squad, with Marc Cucurella also speaking out during the international break.

Caicedo is also an important player for Rosenior and his words while on a trip to Madrid with Ecuador do not help matters. “You don’t get it in soccer, do you?” Caicedo told AS when asked if he could imagine himself wearing Real Madrid’s white.

“I’m currently contracted to Chelsea and to be honest I’ve never really thought about other clubs or leaving London, but at the end of the day you never know in football.

“All I want is to have fun. I have a contract and I want to keep playing as long as God allows. Then we’ll see what happens. We have a contract, but let’s see what the future holds. Let’s see what surprises await us.”

Caicedo has made 139 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Brighton in August 2023 for £115m. He has a contract until June 2031 and has revealed he is happy in west London.

“Chelsea is a great club,” he added. “They’ve helped me a lot since I’ve been here. I want to give back to them, I want to show that in every game as long as I’m there. And, well, time will tell.”

Chelsea defender Cucurella has spoken candidly about how his side have struggled since Enzo Maresca replaced Rosenior in January. Caicedo also made a similar point when asked about the current situation.

“Yes, it’s a little difficult because we were with a coach who was used to playing his style,” he said. “But now we have Rosenior. It’s true that he had a bit of a hard time adapting, but I know it’s only a matter of time before he gets used to something new.”

“Sometimes we adapt faster, and sometimes it takes a little longer. Whatever. I think the whole team is going through a tough time right now, yeah. We’ve got to keep moving forward and try to get through this season because we have a lot of great things.”
