Moises Caicedo has not ruled out a move to Real Madrid and remains focused on his immediate future at Chelsea. The Blues midfielder has joined Enzo Fernandes in responding to the possibility of a move to the Spanish capital, and Caicedo was specifically asked in an interview with AS whether he could “imagine himself wearing white”.

According to the Spanish publication, he was “smirking the whole time” and said: “You never know in the world of football, don’t you think? I have a contract with Chelsea at the moment. To tell you the truth, I’ve honestly never thought about other clubs or leaving London, but well, at the end of the day, you never know in the world of football.”

“All I want is to have fun. I have a contract and I want to keep playing as long as God allows. Then we’ll see what happens. We have a contract, but let’s see what the future holds. Let’s see what surprises await us.”

Caicedo will remain tied to the West London team for the next five years, making it particularly difficult to envisage his imminent departure.

Fernandes similarly spoke about the possibility of joining Real Madrid in the future, following previous comments that cast doubt on his long-term commitment to Stamford Bridge.

Liam Rosenior then confirmed on Friday that he will miss Chelsea’s next two games, against Port Vale in the FA Cup and Manchester City in the Premier League.

He said: “I spoke to Enzo an hour ago. As a football club, I was part of the process and we took the decision. He will not be available for tomorrow’s game and he will not be available for Manchester City on Sunday.”

Enzo Fernandez

“I think it’s unfortunate for Enzo to put it that way. What I say about Enzo, I don’t say about him as a person, as a person. But I think we crossed a line in terms of our culture and what we want to build. So we had to take the sanction and that was the decision we made.”

Manager Marc Cucurella also admitted that the Spaniard would not have sacked manager Enzo Maresca after making controversial comments during his two-week domestic break. Rosseniol later confirmed that he had also spoken to Cucurella, but that he remains available for the next two games, injury permitting.

Disciplinary issues weren’t the only topic of discussion during Rosenior’s press conference, with the Blues manager providing an update on the fitness of four players.

“He (James) is progressing very well, but he’s not ready yet. Trevor (Charova) is progressing very well as well. Levi (Colwill), it’s really good to have him back in full training, but it’s still going to be a few weeks,” Rosenior said.

“He needs to check those boxes. But no, we have a pretty fresh group. Estevao, Jamie Gittens are back, which is very positive heading into the race.”
