Despite the fact that Japan issued a tsunami warning following the earthquake in Russia, Liverpool’s Plejon Friendly to Yokohama F. Marino is reportedly not cancelled. The Reds head straight to the Japanese team at 11:30am this morning (BST).

Liverpool launched their preseason campaign with a 3-1 win over Preston in mid-July, demonstrating a very emotional opportunity for supporters and players after Diogo Jota’s death 10 days ago. The Merseyside giants then flew to Hong Kong last week, leading to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of AC Milan on Friday. Their third preseason match will be played at Yokohama’s Nissan Stadium, with slot teams returning home to play back-to-back matches against Athletic Bilbao on Monday.

Early on Wednesday morning, a massive 8.7-magnitude earthquake struck Russia’s Far East coast.

The tsunami then hit a large island in Japan’s big Hokkaido, with Japanese weather agencies saying the first wave, about a foot tall, reached the Nemuro.

The agency then explained that a 1.3-foot tsunami was detected at 16 locations as the waves moved south towards Tokyo.

Residents are said to have bigger waves coming, with about 2 million people being told to evacuate their homes.

The warning ranges for hundreds of miles, from Hokkaido in the north to Wakurayama prefecture in the south. And Japanese weather agencies have told people that tsunami waves could reach 3 meters high.

Yokohama is located on the west coast of Tokyo Bay, about 20 miles southwest of Tokyo.

And according to Athletic, the match between Liverpool and Yokohama f-Marino is unquestionable, and fans can still travel to the stadium by public transport.
