UEFA sets Euro 2028 ticket prices – commitment to affordability further highlights the staggering expenses fans will endure at this summer’s World Cup

The exorbitant cost of attending this summer’s World Cup has been revealed as ticket prices for Euro 2028 have been revealed.

Fans traveling to the U.S., Canada and Mexico in June are bracing for higher ticket prices, along with travel and lodging costs. FIFA has been under fire over ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup.

In December, world soccer’s governing body was forced to introduce “more affordable” $60 (£45) tickets for all 104 matches after a backlash. If fans were able to purchase tickets in the cheapest category for all eight of their team’s matches on the road to the final, they would have spent around £5,225. An intermediate ticket will cost £8,580, while the most expensive ticket will cost £12,350.

Euro 2028 will be hosted by the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, with UEFA remaining committed to keeping ticket prices down. The Times reports that 15% of tickets for the tournament will be under £30 and a further 25% will be under £60.

This means that if a fan buys two £30 match tickets, they will be able to watch the game for less than the cost of a parking space at this summer’s World Cup group stage matches. Parking at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas costs $75 (£57).

UEFA plans to sell premium tickets for Euro 2028 when they go on sale after the draw in December 2027, but says it will work on a “fair and transparent fan-first ticketing process”.

FIFA has announced that 10 per cent of all tickets for the World Cup will be sold for £45, but for England and Scotland fans it will be just £400 for each group match. England superfan Andy Milne has told the Mirror he plans to sell his house to fund his trip.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino remained resolutely positive amid the outrage over ticket prices, pointing to huge demand. Infantino told CNBC earlier this month that “within four weeks, there is a demand for a once-in-a-millennium World Cup.” “We have received requests for tickets from over 200 countries around the world. Everyone wants to be a part of something special.

“Prices are fixed, but especially in the U.S. we have something called dynamic pricing, which means prices can go up and down.”

“That’s part of the market we’re in,” he added. “The prices for some matches will go up. There is no problem in the sense that there is demand. The prices are a result of that.”

The cheapest tickets for the World Cup final will cost more than £3,000, excluding the minimum number of £45 ‘Supporter Entry Tier’ tickets.

Last week, Football Supporters Europe made a formal complaint about “exorbitant ticket prices” and accused FIFA of “abusing its monopoly position”. They claim that FIFA was guilty of bait-and-switch advertising, advertising prices that were “unobtainable in the real deal” because cheaper tickets were “extremely scarce” on sale.
