Mohamed Salah is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season and manager Jurgen Klopp has urged Merseyside bosses to sign a player specifically to replace him.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly asking Liverpool to sign RB Leipzig’s Yann Diomande to replace Mohamed Salah this summer. The Egyptian has struggled to find form under manager Arne Slott this season, with just five goals and six assists in 22 Premier League appearances.
Despite signing a contract extension last year that will keep him at Anfield until 2027, Salah recently announced his intention to part ways with the club he spent nine years with at the end of the season. As a result, it looks like it’s going to be a busy summer in the North West as the Reds look to secure a suitable replacement for the 33-year-old.
Currently, Klopp, the former Liverpool manager turned world manager of RB Leipzig football, is said to be urging his former club to acquire Diomande. The 19-year-old is valued at £87 million, but the Sun reports that Liverpool could face stiff competition to secure his signing.
That’s because Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be interested in the forward. The Ivorian has certainly impressed, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists in the Bundesliga alone this term.

However, based on his contract until 2030, Leipzig are in no hurry to sell the youngster and could instead demand above-market value to leave the Red Bull Arena in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Klopp recently explained how Liverpool are facing a somewhat impossible task in replacing Salah, who has scored 255 goals for the club since joining in 2017, with the German saying: “A player like this is irreplaceable. That’s always the case.”
“There’s going to be a hole for somebody to fill. It’s always in our minds how much time, how much space, yeah, how much time the manager is going to give to the players who are going to play in whatever system they’re going to play in.”
“But a particular player, Mo Salah? I don’t even know if there are other players. There are other players on that wing who play with different strengths, different qualities, but it’s the numbers he produces. They are unparalleled from that position.”

Diomande isn’t the only star player being considered as a potential replacement for Salah this summer, with other names floating around including West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Bayern Munich’s Michael Oliseh. Meanwhile, speculation remains about Salah’s next club.
Despite his previous allegiance to Liverpool, the forward has recently attracted a lot of interest from the Saudi Professional League. Al Nasr, Al Ittihad and Al Qadosia are among the clubs that have been linked with Salah recently.
However, interest from MLS has also been reported, with clubs such as Inter Miami and LA Galaxy also mentioned as possible landing spots. With the likes of Roma, Barcelona, PSG, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce linked with Salah, there is always the possibility that the club legend will remain in Europe.
