Tottenham have contingency plans in place with a view to potentially appointing Sean Dyche as their next manager until the end of the season. Due to this situation, interim coach Igor Tudor is expected to be fired. Spurs currently sit 17th in the Premier League, just one point outside the relegation zone with nine games remaining.
That has led to speculation that Tottenham may consider making another managerial change before the end of the season. Dyche has previously been linked with a managerial role at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and could potentially replace Tudor. According to the Telegraph, Tottenham have made Dyche a candidate, but only if their primary target for the role, Roberto De Zerbi, proves unwilling to accept the position until the summer.
The report suggests Spurs could turn to Dyche if De Zerbi says no. Dyche was most recently manager of Nottingham Forest before being sacked in February, and has expertise in helping clubs such as Everton and Burnley avoid relegation to the Premier League.
De Zerbi’s most recent role was as manager of Marseille, and he has been linked with a return to the Premier League since leaving the Ligue 1 club last month.
As well as being linked with the Tottenham manager’s job, De Zerbi has also been touted as a possible long-term successor at Manchester United this summer.
Spurs have identified several potential manager candidates in case Tudor leaves the club before the next game.
The report also claims that Tottenham are expected to make a final decision on Tudor’s departure on Monday, although it remains unclear whether this will lead to his departure.
Tudor’s father tragically passed away last weekend and the Croat was informed shortly after Sunday’s 3-0 loss to Forest.
Tottenham are not scheduled to return to action until April 12, when they will face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in a bid to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
Spurs have seven Premier League games left this season and if West Ham beat Wolves on April 10, they could fall into the relegation zone by the time the game against Sunderland kicks off.
