Mohamed Salah announced this week that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has paid his condolences to Mohamed Salah after the latter announced he would step down at the end of the season. The 58-year-old praised the forward as his trophy-filled chapter with the Reds draws to a close ahead of his summer move.
The German praised his record-breaking career at Anfield and called on Liverpool supporters to give the Egyptian the exit he deserves at the end of the season. The player will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and the Reds’ last Premier League game will be at home to Brentford on May 24th.
On Tuesday, the Egyptian international made the bombshell announcement that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. Salah will leave the club on a free transfer after mutual agreement was reached to end his contract early.
In an interview with Anfield Wrap, he said: “I hope he has a successful rest of the season. I sent him a message last night and I really hope he enjoys the rest of the season, but I know Mo can only enjoy it if he wins a football match and scores a goal.”
“On his final game day, I really hope everyone is smiling, happy and grateful for one of the greatest careers we’ve ever been a part of. He’s incredible, where he’s come from, what he’s been through and what he’s given us.”
“When you work with him, the bigger picture is outrageous and the numbers are unparalleled. We could be sitting here in 10 years, maybe ekitike (breaking records), but it’s going to be difficult. One of the best players of all time leaves the club in the summer. Let’s see where he turns up next.”

It was under Klopp that Salah led Liverpool to dizzying heights and re-established themselves as a powerhouse in world football. The 33-year-old scored the opening goal in a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019 Champions League final, helping them win the Premier League 12 months later.
The 58-year-old added: “It’s been a joy, it’s been a challenge, it’s been hard work on both sides (working with him) and an incredible result. I could never have imagined something like this was possible. I’m sure the numbers he’s produced, the performances, some of them will be unparalleled.”
“I’ve already looked back and can’t believe how this was possible. The goals he scored, the consistency he showed, the desire and enthusiasm to get bigger and bigger.”
Salah almost single-handedly led Liverpool to top-flight success after impressing in Arne Slott’s first season, winning the Golden Boot award and the most assists.
But those were difficult words for the Egyptian, who has struggled to repeat his heroics from last season.

A high-profile rift with Slott in December sparked fresh concerns over Salah’s future. Rumors that this season could be his last at Anfield surfaced long before the two sides clashed, but Salah’s incendiary comments on the eve of the African Cup of Nations and a rift in their relationship appear to have played a role in his departure.
Saudi Arabia has long debated the circumstances surrounding Salah’s future. Al Ittihad saw a £150m verbal offer rejected during Klopp’s final season at Anfield, when he was touted to move to the Saudi Professional League amid contract uncertainty last season, when the possibility of him leaving on a free transfer looked real.
Liverpool and the forward eventually reached an agreement and the saga ended with Salah signing a two-year contract. However, a year later, he admitted to leaving the club.
The player said: “Hello everyone. Unfortunately this day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of this season.”
“First of all, I would like to say that I never imagined that this club, this city and these people would become a part of my life. Liverpool is more than just a football club, it is a passion, a history and a spirit. Words cannot explain it to anyone who is not part of this club.”
“We celebrated victories, won the most important trophies and fought through the most difficult times of our lives together. I would like to thank everyone who has been part of this club throughout my time here, especially my teammates past and present.”
“And to my fans, I have no words. The support you showed me during the best times of my career, and the way you stood by me during the most difficult times. It’s something I’ll never forget and something I’ll always carry with me. It’s never easy to be apart. You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you.”
“For me and for my family, this club will always be my home. Thank you for everything. Thanks to you all, I will never walk alone.”
