Harry Maguire wants to stay at Manchester United but wants guarantees on his playing time.
United veteran Maguire, 33, is out of contract this summer and is in talks to stay at Old Trafford. But Maguire admitted he would only commit to a new contract if he believed he would remain first choice for the duration of the contract.
United are close to agreeing new terms with Kobie Mainoo, while they hope to sign Maguire to a one-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
But Maguire said: “I think we’ll come to an agreement that’s best for the club and for myself. We’ll see what that agreement is in the coming weeks. But yeah, whether I stay or go, I think it’s going to be resolved sooner or later. But I think it’s going to be resolved soon, and it’s going to be.”
“I love this club, but it has to be right for me and it has to be right for the club. I don’t want to get stuck in sentimental values.

“I want to stay because I want to be there and the club wants me to take the club further and they feel I have a big part in that. And if that is the case, I am sure we will buckle down and achieve something.”
Asked what it would take to convince him to stay, Maguire added: “Yeah, it’s to go out there and help the team on and off the pitch. I don’t want to feel like I’m not important.
“I want to be important to the club, so we need to sit down and talk. And now I’m on a long break with a red card.”
