Miles Lewis-Skelly is reportedly on Manchester United’s summer transfer list. The Arsenal academy product shot to fame last season after establishing himself as a regular starter in the team’s left-back position. However, his playing time has significantly decreased since the signing of Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen along with Riccardo Calafioli on summer loan.
Hincapie’s loan is expected to become permanent in the summer. Sky Sports claim that Lewis-Skelly is a highly rated player by the Red Devils, alongside Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown and Newcastle’s Lewis Hall. A number of elite clubs across Europe are tracking the status of Louis Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.
Nwaneri is currently on loan at Marseille in France. The 18-year-old, like academy graduate Lewis Skelly, has found his way to consistent competitive action amid restrictions in north London.

At United, Patrick Dorg, who also has fitness issues, has been deployed in a more attacking position, leaving a more open position at left-back.
Luke Shaw is nearing the final chapter of his career and must also contend with ongoing fitness concerns. Tyrell Malasia appears destined to leave the club in the near future, but the club have brought in 18-year-old Diego Leon, who is not yet in the Premier League.
From an Arsenal perspective, Mikel Arteta has consistently praised Lewis-Skelly, but has been outspoken about the reality of Hincapie and Calafioli’s performances.
He said earlier this month: “Each season is different. There have been periods this season where I’ve been really good and there have been periods where I haven’t played as much.

“So there’s a lot of different reasons. Sometimes your teammates are doing better. There’s a lot of factors that contribute to that. But he’s doing well.”
Leaving the club this summer is a top priority for Arsenal, and there are only a few players in the squad who can truly be considered ‘unmarketable’.
If the Gunners receive an offer that they think is too attractive for one of their players to refuse, it will prove very difficult to refuse.
Lewis-Skelly is thought to be a player who could leave if interest from more specific clubs develops, even from Premier League clubs.
Their rivals Manchester City have seen several young players like Cole Palmer and James McAtee progress through the ranks while continuing to win major trophies, something Arsenal supporters may also have become accustomed to during their time at the top level.
