Manchester United are yet to announce who will be their manager in the summer transfer window, but the Red Devils’ recruitment team have already drawn up a shortlist of targets.
Everton star Iliman Ndiaye and Newcastle’s Lewis Hall have been identified as Manchester United targets ahead of the summer transfer window. Although the financial situation remains uncertain, United leaders are moving ahead with plans for next season.
Caretaker manager Michael Carrick’s contract ends in May, but he has a record of 7 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss in his first 10 games, making him the frontrunner to become a permanent transfer. The Red Devils’ improved form has seen them move up to third place in the Premier League table and put them on track to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
A return to Europe’s top-flight competition would give United a significant financial boost and increase their chances of landing top targets. The Red Devils focused on signing players with a proven track record in the Premier League last summer and will do the same this time around.
Sky Sports report that they are targeting 26-year-old Ndiaye, who scored in Everton’s 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday, as they search for a right-handed left winger. The Senegal international is in his second season at Everton, having signed from Marseille.

RB Leipzig prodigy Yann Diomande could replace Ndiaye, with rivals Liverpool also interested in signing the 19-year-old Ivorian. But that’s not the only position United are targeting.
Christopher Vivell’s Red Devils reinforcements are keen to sign a left-back, with Newcastle star Hall being considered. The former Chelsea prospect, who was recently called up to the England squad, enjoyed another impressive campaign at St James’ Park.
Hall, 21, started both of Newcastle’s Champions League round of 16 defeats to Barcelona. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Braun is also said to be a target, with the 22-year-old Germany international having scored four goals and provided two assists in the Bundesliga this season.

Midfield is an established area that United are also scouting. Potential candidates to replace the departing Casemiro include Elliott Anderson, Carlos Bareva, Joao Gomez and Adam Wharton.
Vivel became the club’s head of recruitment in February 2025, having previously joined on a short-term basis. The former Chelsea and Leipzig manager has impressed within the United hierarchy and will work with director of football Jason Wilcox throughout the summer transfer window.
