Exclusive: Millwall is looking to bolster its attack options with a deal with Alfie Dauty.
Alfie Doughty will receive medical care ahead of his permanent move to Millwall as the Lions approach another major transfer coup.
The 25-year-old left-wing back is one of Luton’s star performers in the Premier League before the Hatters struggled with consecutive relegations, and the club’s preparation for life in League One this summer is the subject of transfer interest.
And Miller Football understands that Millwall made their move for Doutty ahead of Luton’s season opener on Friday.
The Lions are a big admirer of Doutty, deploying him in a more advanced role in attacks, rather than a fully stocked left-back.
Landing Doughty quality players is another intentional statement from Millwall. Millwall broke his transfer record this summer to sign Josh Coburn from Middlesbrough.

A return to the championship will appeal to Doughty, who had linked with the move before staying at Kenilworth Road last summer.
The player was pulled out of the starting XI just before kicking off on Saturday with Lewton preseason friendly against Tottenham. Matt Bloomfield then worked on the speculation of a transfer around Doutty after the match.
“Listen, Alfie has been interested all summer because he’s a player who played at such a good level,” the Hatters boss said today via Luton.
“In the Premier League, he had a very good season and last year he showed some real top moments, so he had some interest, Alfie, and I’m sure it will continue with the rest of the window.
“The right decision I made before the game was that the team sheet was that he wouldn’t play, so that was how the game went. I just said in another room.
“I think it’s very rare for both teams to change left fullbacks between the team seat and kickoff. This happened today, so it was the right decision that Alfie wouldn’t play, but I’m sure he’s absolutely fine.
