Tottenham are set to appoint a new head coach at the end of a disastrous season and are already in talks with one of their top targets for the vacant vacancy, Roberto De Zerbi.

Roberto De Zerbi is said to be open to being appointed as Tottenham Hotspur’s new head coach this summer if the struggling north London side retain their Premier League status.
Spurs parted ways with Thomas Frank last month after enduring a disastrous season and finding themselves stuck in the relegation zone. However, neither results nor performances have improved under manager Igor Tudor, with Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest leaving the club just one point above the bottom three.
The Croatian was contracted until the end of the season, with Tottenham set to appoint a new permanent head coach for the 2026-27 season.
And De Zerbi is considered the frontrunner for the role following private negotiations with club executives.

The Telegraph reports that De Zerbi, who has been free agent since leaving Marseille last month, has held talks with Spurs and is seen as the frontrunner for the vacant vacancy, along with the club’s popular former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Importantly, De Zerbi is said to be open to taking over as manager at Tottenham. However, if the club does not perform well and ends up being relegated, that stance will likely change.

If De Zerbi emerges ahead of Pochettino in the race to replace Tudor (Tudor is not being considered for the job permanently), competition for the Italian will be fierce. The report adds that Manchester United are also planning to hire a new manager in the off-season, and that De Zerbi could be a target if Liverpool decide to part ways with manager Arne Slott.
De Zerbi did a fantastic job at Brighton in just under two years, winning him many fans in the Premier League.

His front-foot attacking style will satisfy disillusioned supporters. Sunday’s crushing defeat made clear how they feel about a side who are also fighting for survival at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Pochettino will be a popular choice with the fan base, given the excellent job he has done in his previous spell at the club. However, given his current commitments with the U.S. national team, he will likely be unavailable until later in the summer.
