Arsenal lost 2-0 to Manchester City in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, but the Gunners star was without Eberechi Eze after sustaining a calf injury.
Arsenal fear Eberechi Eze faces injury lay-off, another blow to their trophy hopes. The Gunners midfielder missed the Carabao Cup final due to a calf injury and will be left out of England’s squad for the Wembley friendly against Uruguay and Japan.
Eze will undergo tests on the injury this week to determine the full extent of the problem, but it is clearly worse than initially feared when he limped off against Bayer Leverkusen. Obviously he is expected to be out for two weeks, but that is the length of the international break so he will not miss the next two weeks of games.
However, Arsenal still have important matches in the FA Cup quarter-finals against Southampton, Champions League quarter-finals against Sporting Lisbon, as well as important games in the title race against Bournemouth on April 11th and Manchester City on April 19th.
Arsenal hope he returns as soon as possible, but have not yet confirmed when he will return, with more precise details likely to be revealed at the next round of tests.

However, it is a big blow for Arsenal. That’s because Eze is starting to feel better in terms of form and performance after a stop-start season and is desperate to play again in order to qualify for the World Cup. Arsenal already have major injury worries, with Mikel Merino likely to be out for the season and Julian Timber missing the final and withdrawing from the Netherlands squad.
Club captain Martin Odegaard was sidelined with a knee injury, but was close to recovering by the time of the final. There are hopes that Odegaard will return after the international break, which would be a big boost for Mikel Arteta’s side. Odegaard had been suffering from a knee problem, but that has now come to light and he should be fit to return for the run-in.

Eze was replaced in the England squad by Newcastle forward Harvey Barnes. Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Ben White has received his first call-up since 2022 to replace the injured Jarrell Quansah. The Three Lions face Uruguay on Friday before hosting Japan in the capital next Tuesday.
