Arsenal lost to Premier League rivals Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, but Freddie Ljungberg has fresh concerns about his former team.
Former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg has urged his old side to forget their defeat in the Carabao Cup final as the focus returns to the Premier League title race.
The Gunners lost 2-0 to Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with Nico O’Reilly scoring twice for Pep Guardiola’s side.
And given that defeat came at the hands of their main rivals for the Premier League title, former Arsenal star Ljungberg has concerns for the north London side as they look to win the trophy.
Speaking after Sunday’s defeat, he said: “It’s a blow. It’s the talk of the town, it’s Arsenal. Arsenal are the new team. They’re doing great in the Champions League. They were fourth and everything was going their way. Arsenal are doing great in the Champions League. It was four times as many. Everything was going their way. Arsenal is Arsenal.”
“Manchester City won the Champions League, they were heavily criticized, and then all of a sudden they crushed Arsenal a little bit.”

Arsenal remain nine points clear of City, but that advantage could be reduced to three if Guardiola’s side defeat the Gunners. And Ljungberg believes momentum could have shifted in City’s favor now.
He added: “It was 2-0. They had the ball the whole time, so it’s going to be a difficult game for them. I think they feel they can win the league, but if you look at this here, they’re going to the Etihad and City will be like, ‘We’re going to take the three points there!'”
“Of course we have a break now, but after that we’ll probably have to go clean. If City gear up now and go clean…”
Ljungberg is not the only one to be vocal about the impact the Carabao Cup final could have on the league. City star Rodri has warned Arsenal that his side are ready to take advantage of any lapse.
He said: “A lot, a lot. That’s why I said this match is not just for the title, but to show that we can beat them.”
“There’s still a lot of work to do and obviously we didn’t want to leave the Champions League. But we’re out and now we have to look positive and we have more time to prepare for the games. So it’s something to consider, but at the same time we have to celebrate this.”
Rodri added: “We knew this was a very important game, not only for the title, but also because we have to play against the best team in the league.
“Now I need to take a break and come back for the next international match and be optimistic that I can still play two more games.”
