Newcastle 1-2 Sunderland: After Anthony Gordon put them ahead and Kemsudine Talbi equalized, a 90th-minute goal from Brian Brobbey was enough for Sunderland to take all three points against Newcastle.
Sunderland completed a memorable Tyne Wear derby double against Newcastle thanks to Brian Brobbey’s last-gasp winner. Forward Blobby scored a goal in the 90th minute, clinching a comeback for the Black Cats.
Anthony Gordon put Newcastle ahead in the first half after Sunderland’s goal-kick caused defensive confusion, with the home side in the lead until half-time.
However, Sunderland were more impressive in the second period and deserved Kemsudine Talbi’s equalizing goal.
It looked like the game would end at 1-1, but Blobby had other ideas and sent Enzo Le Fee’s cross deflected into the goal by Aaron Ramsdale.

Gordon’s strike was a scary moment for Sunderland stalwart Luke O’Nine. Onine has featured for the Black Cats in League One and the Championship and has played bit roles this season.
He received a short pass from substitute goalkeeper Melker Elborg, who replaced the injured Robin Rufus, and attempted to play in from the back.
However, his pass went straight to the feet of Nick Woltemade, who fed Gordon. The England international took advantage of O’Nine’s challenge and drove the ball firmly into the bottom corner to give Newcastle the lead.
Things could have gotten even worse for Sunderland when Sven Botman hit the post just before the break. Lewis Hall delivered a pinpoint cross from the left and Botman met it well, but he could only head it on target.
However, Sunderland hit back after the break. A corner kick came from the right, but Ramsdale was unconvinced to try and beat it. His parry found only Try Hume, who hooked it inside the six-yard box.
Blobby tried to cross the line with his chest, but his attempt was blocked by Dan Byrne. The ball fell to Talbi, who scored from close range to restore parity.
Newcastle looked to have taken the lead when Malick Thiaw headed in a corner kick, but the goal was canceled out as Jacob Murphy was standing in front of Elborg in an offside position.
But it was Sunderland who took the bragging rights with Brobbie scoring from close range while the visiting supporters were housed in the high ground at St James’ Park.
In a worrying moment, the match was suspended due to allegations of discriminatory abuse against Sunderland’s Lutsharel Gertruida.
The raucous pre-match atmosphere outside St James’ Park was marred by violent clashes between two sets of supporters.
Witnesses claimed that a small number of traveling Sunderland fans bypassed police escort and entered the stadium, mixing with a larger group of home fans.
Upon entering the stadium, Newcastle fans unveiled a mosaic mocking their arch-rivals with the message: “Welcome to the regional capital. It’s been a long time!”
But Sunderland supporters had the last laugh after witnessing a historic league double.
The result moves the Black Cats into 11th place, leapfrogging their nearest neighbors in 12th place.
