Ibrahima Konate becomes victim of racial abuse after Liverpool’s Champions League last-16 win over Galatasaray
Galatasaray general secretary Elai Yazgan has made offensive comments following a racist rant against Ibrahima Konate. The Liverpool defender was subjected to horrific comments after his clash with Victor Osimhen in the last-16 leg of the Champions League.
Liverpool have accused Konate of racist abuse and Galatasaray manager Yazgan has commented on the incident, making a truly outlandish accusation following the unusual injury sustained by Noah Lang.
“Liverpool has not made a single apology to our club or players. This is unacceptable. This silence and disregard for responsibility is an attempt to cover up the incident,” Yazgan was quoted as saying by Turkish outlet A Spor.

“Liverpool have not even apologized, but we can see that they are trying to divert attention by bringing up fictitious comments they claim were made on social media against their own player Konate.

“Despite the serious situation that threatens the health of their players, Liverpool are trying to change the subject. A club like Liverpool should first explain the scandal that occurred on the pitch and make the necessary apology without delay.”
“UEFA have launched an investigation into the incident in which Lang was injured. We are also in contact with them. We will not let this stand.”
UEFA was asked for comment by the Mirror on Thursday, but denied that any such investigation had begun.
They later said: “UEFA will review the circumstances that led to the unfortunate accident suffered by Galatasaray SK player Noah Lang and will review pitch-side equipment, including LED boards, for all future matches to identify any similar potential risks and ask clubs to take appropriate measures where appropriate.”
“We wish Noah Lang a full and speedy recovery.” After the match, Liverpool officials were also spotted next to where the incident occurred.
Lang underwent emergency thumb surgery early Thursday morning and posted an update on his Instagram confirming the surgery was a success.
Immediately after Lang’s injury, Yazgan made an even bolder claim: “We lodged a complaint with UEFA representatives after the match. They also conducted an investigation. UEFA will evaluate the matter.”
“We are in talks with a lawyer. We will file a compensation lawsuit with UEFA. We will ask them to resolve the damage caused in terms of wages.”
