Both squads for Chelsea’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain were leaked hours before kick-off, prompting the club to launch an investigation.
Liam Rosenior has admitted that Chelsea have discovered the person who was leaking team news. The Blues’ starting line-up for their Champions League second-leg clash with Paris Saint-Germain was leaked hours before kick-off.
Wesley Fofana’s absence from the second leg was reported by multiple French media outlets ahead of Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat. PSG drew with Liverpool in the quarter-finals, and the Blues ended up losing 8-2 on aggregate.
Ahead of the team’s return match, Rosenior confirmed that Chelsea had launched an investigation into the leak, which has now been concluded. Ahead of Saturday’s visit to Everton, the Blues manager provided an update and suggested the mole meant no harm.
“We know (who it is),” Rosenior acknowledged. “It didn’t come from any malice toward me or the team. We handled the situation.”

At Thursday’s press conference, Rosenior also revealed that defender Trevo Chalovah will be out for six weeks, alongside captain Reece James. Chalobah, 26, played the full game against PSG but was injured.
“I didn’t see the footage until after the game and I was really worried then,” Rosenior admitted. “Fortunately, it’s not as serious as we initially feared. We think it will probably last six weeks.”
Regarding James’ injury, the Chelsea manager said: “We’ll keep an eye on Rees more after the international break. It’s not serious, but there’s something in his hamstring so we’ll see how he goes after the break.”

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Philipp Jorgensen underwent tests for a groin problem, while centre-back Levi Colwill is making a good recovery. “In ACL, he has achieved all the necessary benchmarks, but we need to ensure that he continues to exceed a certain level,” Rosenior explained. “He’s still under observation for a while.”
After losing 1-0 at home to Newcastle last weekend, Chelsea are now sixth in the Premier League table, one point behind Liverpool, who are expected to take the final Champions League spot in fifth place. Everton are just five points behind Rosenior’s team and have prepared well for their encounter at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
“Every manager goes through difficult weeks,” Rosenior added. “I’ve had difficult times before. I’ve lost games in a lot of jobs, as have other managers. We need to find a way to compete at Everton and get through the difficult times.”
