Manchester City will consider a managerial change this summer if Josep Guardiola decides to leave the club, but it looks like a replacement for the Spaniard could be found quickly.
Girona manager Michel has admitted he is “ready” to take the next step in his managerial career amid links with Manchester City. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to the Etihad as a possible replacement for Pep Guardiola in the future.
Girona will be part of the City Football Group, so the transfer will be relatively easy to complete. City leaders are already planning to see Guardiola step down as current manager, with reports suggesting he could leave this summer despite still having one year left on his contract.
Asked about his future, Michel said he was currently open to a move to the Premier League. “I’m ready, I think I’m ready to coach any team,” he told La Otra Grada via Estadio Deportivo.
“I don’t know if they[Man City]see it the same way. Of course it’s not the same environment, but I have the ability to adapt and I want to take on the challenge.”

Michel, 50, has been Girona’s manager since 2021 and has managed 211 games so far. He led the team to promotion and an impressive third place finish in La Liga in the 2023/24 season.
Meanwhile, Guardiola has hinted on several occasions that he could leave City in the near future. He said earlier this month: “I’ll miss not being able to go to Camp Nou, I’ll miss Bayern Munich – hopefully we can get through and get there – and when I retire and retire, I’ll miss that too.”
“I miss it because it’s a very special night. I also miss Selhurst Park. I love it. The Premier League, these stadiums. I miss the Champions League too, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Goodison Park, but those stadiums are one of the reasons I adore England, I adore the Premier League. It’s like the FA Cup! It’s against League One (teams). I like it a lot! But it’ll come to an end, right?”
Guardiola also confirmed that he will step down from management at the end of his spell at the Etihad.
“I know I’m going to quit after this stage at City, that’s for sure, it’s more than decided,” he said. “I don’t know how long I’m going to stop. One year, two years, three years, five years, 10 years, 15 years, I don’t know. But I’m going to stop after this stage with City, because I need to stop and focus on myself, my body and…”
