Liverpool striker Alexander Isak was spotted doing individual training on the eve of the final Champions League match against Galatasaray, but manager Arne Slott does not expect him to return anytime soon.
Manager Arne Slott has refused to say when Alexander Isak will be back as he continues his recovery from a broken leg, but Joe Gomez could be available for Wednesday night’s game against Galatasaray.
The 26-year-old Sweden international fractured his fibula in December and subsequently had to undergo surgery. Isak, who joined Liverpool in a British record move in the summer, was seen training individually on the eve of the Reds’ decisive Champions League clash against Galatasaray.
Isak’s return to the grass is a welcome boost for the Premier League champions, but Slott immediately stressed that a return to the first team is not imminent.
However, he provided a more optimistic update on Gomez, saying he could feature in Liverpool’s second leg despite missing training on Tuesday. Slot’s side will need to overturn a 1-0 deficit to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals.

“Alex is away and Joe will decide tomorrow,” the Liverpool manager said on Tuesday afternoon. “(Gomez) was not ready to practice today. He had problems against Galatasaray, but after the last game he had too many problems.
“We weren’t scheduled to play against Tottenham, but Ibou (Konate) felt pain in his hamstring and didn’t want to take any risks. He’s going to try tomorrow, Joe.”
“The fact that we see Alex on the pitch shows that he is close. He will also be unavailable on Saturday. There is no timetable.
“If you’ve been doing individual sessions for months, it’s quite a step up to train with a team and then a step up to play in the Premier League or Champions League.”
Gomez featured in the disappointing 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the weekend, but Slott could be left with a defensive headache if he is unavailable.
If Gomez is not given the green light to play against Galatasaray, Ibrahima Konate could replace the 28-year-old at the heart of Liverpool’s defence.
