Andrea Berta is preparing for his second summer transfer window as Arsenal’s sporting director and is expected to focus on departures to keep Mikel Arteta’s side competitive.
Arsenal have drawn up a list of 11 players who could be sold this summer as sporting director Andrea Berta focuses on departures. In his first summer transfer window at the Emirates, Bertha paid £250m for seven permanent transfers.
Arsenal have also snapped up No. 8 Piero Hincapie and will pay £45m to turn his loanee from Bayer Leverkusen into a permanent deal. The focus is therefore on making ends meet, and Berta hopes to have a better summer than 2025 in terms of departures.
The Times reports that Arsenal are planning a further refresh as they aim to win their first Premier League title in more than 20 years. Of the first-team players on loan, only Jakub Kiviol is guaranteed to earn the Gunners a permanent transfer fee (£17 million from Porto).
Bertha are hoping to find buyers for Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira and Karl Hein, who are due to return to the Emirates this summer with one year left on their respective contracts. However, there are several players who were in Arteta’s squad this season whose futures are uncertain.

Ben White and Christian Norgaard could be promoted due to limited playing time this term. Meanwhile, the contracts of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus also expire in 2027.
Gabriel Martinelli is perhaps the highest-profile star facing uncertainty. The Brazilian has two years left on his contract, but Martinelli could be seen as meeting the requirements after Arsenal have invested heavily up front, along with the arrival of Max Daumann.
Academy players Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri could also leave in search of regular game time. Lewis-Skelly’s role was reduced with the arrival of Hincapie, while Nwaneri was loaned to Marseille in January.

Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund made inquiries about Nwaneri last summer before signing a long-term deal. The midfielder has made eight appearances for Marseille, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
Of course, such a liquidation would mean that Bertha would take out her checkbook and replace some. Manager Alterta is unlikely to sanction all 11 sent-offs for persistence in the dressing room after the most successful campaign of his tenure.
In terms of arrivals, Arsenal are monitoring RB Redipig centre-half Castello Lucaba and Newcastle right-back Tino Livramento. The Gunners will also hold contract talks in north London with Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard, who each have two years left on their contracts.
Havertz, who earns around £275,000, was recently replaced as Arsenal’s top earner by Bukayo Saka, who signed a new £300,000-a-week deal last month. Mr Odegaard reportedly earns around £240,000.
