From arguments with opposing coaches to now ‘centre circle gates’, Liam Rosenior’s time at Chelsea has been marked by events both on and off the pitch. However, as the company’s recent business performance has begun to take a turn for the worse, talk has begun to arise regarding changes in management.
Express Sport has selected four potential candidates…
The time has come for the Spanish manager to test himself in the Premier League. right? Luis Enrique is respected as one of the best managers on the planet, but unlike other elite managers, he has never managed in England’s top flight. Enrique held talks with Chelsea in 2023, before Mauricio Pochettino took over as manager. Having conquered Europe with Paris Saint-Germain, now is the perfect opportunity to test his abilities in the continent’s most competitive league.
Talk about fan favorites. During his five-year spell as a player, Cesc Fabregas was revered by the Stamford Bridge faithful and quickly earned the respect of everyone involved at the club. The Serie A outfit has a chance of qualifying for the Champions League just a few months from the end of the season, especially after his achievements as coach of Como. A move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs is definitely on the horizon, but what if it means a move to Chelsea?
From one member of the team that won the title in the 2014/15 season to another. Felipe Luis, who impressed as coach at Brazilian side Flamengo, reportedly held talks with the Blues to replace Enzo Maresca earlier this year. Despite winning the 2025 Copa Libertadores and becoming only the ninth player and coach to do so, Luis was sacked by Flamengo earlier this year. Perhaps if Chelsea return to the spotlight this summer, could that interest be reignited?
Given that he will be looking for a new job in the summer, he is probably the easiest manager on this list to lure to Stamford Bridge. Oliver Glasner has already announced his departure from Crystal Palace, and several of the division’s biggest teams are said to be closely monitoring the move. It would be a departure from the type of coach BlueCo had been looking for during his time at Chelsea, but maybe it’s time to try something different.
