Casemiro was once again key to Michael Carrick’s side’s victory over Aston Villa as Manchester United took a vital step towards Champions League qualification.
Manchester United fans serenaded Casemiro against Aston Villa and demanded that he sign a new contract with the club. The Brazilian midfielder confirmed earlier this year that he would be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season.
His contract has an option to extend his stay for a further season, but neither the club nor the player will accept it. Since then, the veteran midfielder has found great form.
His goal against Aston Villa was his seventh of the season, making it his most productive season at Old Trafford. After United won 3-1, supporters expressed their feelings by chanting “One more year, one more year, Casemiro”.
Meanwhile, Casemiro also showed his love for the club by proudly displaying his United badge at the Stretford End as part of the celebrations.

Ironically, former United star Kleberson has suggested the Brazilian still wants to stay. “He won a lot of trophies with Real Madrid, but I think when he got the chance to play for Man United he felt he finally had the chance to play in the best league in the world.”
“He’s a great midfielder and I think he even developed at Man United. But Man United as a club always has its ups and downs. That’s why he hasn’t won as many trophies and why he hasn’t had the opportunity to play in important finals like the Champions League final.”
“The philosophy changed a lot, there was a new manager, players came in and out of Man United. Everything was difficult and it was completely different from when he was at Real Madrid. He didn’t go through a lot of changes at Real Madrid.”
“I know he has spent a lot of money, but he has really brought leadership to the club. That is why he has returned to the Brazil national team and why he is playing in the World Cup. He really brings leadership, which he has shown at Manchester United as well. He is a great team-mate and a great competitor.”
“Of course you can’t compare his leadership to that of Roy Keane, because it was completely different, but he knows the rules at Man United. I think he’s happy at Man United, but the club has never been in a good position. I still think he wants to stay at Man United, or at least thinks about it, because he’s doing very well under Michael Carrick.”
United have now moved up to third place in the table after winning against Villa. They will next face Bournemouth on Friday night.
