Liverpool faced Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, but Igor Tudor was seen live on TV making a huge gaffe as he went down the tunnel before kick-off.
Igor Tudor appeared to mistake Alan Dixon for Arne Slott ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s away trip to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. The Croatian went into this match under increasing pressure, having failed to win in four games since taking over as caretaker manager last month.
As it stands, Spurs are 16th in the Premier League table with 29 points, level with Nottingham Forest in 17th and West Ham in 18th, with only goal difference keeping them safe. And with just eight games remaining in the 2025/26 season, the chances of the 47-year-old helping the club avoid relegation to the Championship for the first time in their history look dwindling by the day.
But it was Tudor’s actions before kick-off against Liverpool that caught the attention of fans around the world, when he appeared to be approached from behind by Dixon thinking he was about to do the traditional pre-match handshake with Slott. After emerging from the tunnel, Tudor slapped Dixon, the Spurs’ player liaison officer, then put his arm around him and they exchanged words for a while.

And one observant social media user quickly shared a clip of the exchange online, writing: “Igor Tudor confused Alan Dixon with Arne Slott,” along with a series of laughing emojis.
The reply section of the post was full of sarcastic comments about Tudor’s struggles at Spurs as well as what Dixon was doing on the touchline.

This comes after Tudor made headlines earlier this week for telling his players in a pre-match press conference that they would either “cry or fight” in the relegation battle. “It’s not an easy situation, it’s not an easy moment. It’s a big challenge to change the situation,” he said.
“Like everything in life, you can choose how you look at a situation. You can cry, you can fight, you can be a victim or you can make a difference. This is the message I gave to my players.
“The bottle is either half empty or half full. There’s nothing here full and a lot empty. But difficult moments don’t last forever.
“It will pass. The players who take this as an opportunity and have the courage to try and change these situations will become better people and better players afterward.”
