Everton striker Tierno Barry has appealed to his fans after posting a clip on social media of what appears to be a clash between supporters on the away side during the team’s defeat to Arsenal.
Police are investigating an incident at the Emirates after Everton striker Tierno Barry claimed his friend was “attacked” during Saturday’s defeat to Arsenal.
The Frenchman, who came off the bench in the 69th minute to replace Beto, posted a video on social media suggesting his friends were being targeted. He claimed his friends were taken away by security staff and police “for fear of reprisals from his supporters.”
The Metropolitan Police said there had been no reports of injuries and no arrests had been made and that it was working with the club to identify those involved. Merseyside Police were also participating in the investigation.
Everton remained top of the Premier League until the final minute on Saturday evening. Victor Gokeres broke the deadlock in the 89th minute, and Max Doman scored the second goal in stoppage time.
Barry wrote on Instagram: “This kind of behavior will not be tolerated in a stadium. You brought your friends to enjoy the game and it was ruined by a few stupid people.

“Football should be a place where everyone feels safe and respected. This kind of attitude has no place in the game and will never be tolerated in football.”
“My friends and those who were attacked had to be escorted out by Arsenal club security staff and police for fear of retaliation from supporters.”
A Met spokesperson said: “Officers and stewards responded to the incident. No serious injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing and we are working with both clubs to identify those involved. No arrests have been made.”
Everton said they were aware of the incident and said: “Violent or disorderly behavior is completely unacceptable and has no place in football.
“This does not reflect the passionate and loyal support that Everton enjoys, both at home and away. The club will work with the relevant authorities to establish the facts and take appropriate action.”
Reach PLC has contacted Arsenal for comment, but the Gunners will not be making a statement regarding the incident.
The Toffees are eighth in the table but remain in contention for European football with eight games remaining.
Barry, who joined the club in a £27m deal from Villarreal last summer, has scored six times and is joint-equal with the team’s top scorer this season.
