Sean Dyche is reportedly aware of Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in appointing him as their next interim manager if Igor Tudor leaves the club. Spurs are currently reeling from a 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this week.
Tudor was appointed by Tottenham last month as interim manager until the end of the season, losing all four games he was in charge of.
As a result, there has been speculation about Tudor’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Dyche emerging as a possible successor after leaving Nottingham Forest last month.
According to a report in The Sun, Dyche is aware of interest from Tottenham in potentially appointing him as Tudor’s replacement until the end of the season.
Spurs currently sit in 16th place, just one point above the relegation zone, and are battling to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Tottenham are also facing a challenge to remain in the Champions League after falling three points behind Atletico in the first leg.
While the aforementioned reports continue to claim that Dyche is a candidate to replace Tudor at Tottenham, the north London club will still only want to appoint the former Everton and Nottingham Forest manager on an interim basis until the summer.
According to a separate report in The Independent, Tottenham are currently considering appointing Dyche as Tudor’s successor, but his position is becoming increasingly uncertain.
Spurs face Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend, and it was confirmed that the 47-year-old will be speaking to the media at Friday’s pre-match press conference, with Tudor still expected to be in the dugout for the game.
Tudor was asked about his future at Tottenham and the challenges he has faced since moving to north London.
“That’s not a subject for me,” Tudor said Tuesday. “It’s not my job, it’s how I help the team. That’s always the important thing.”
He added: “We are aware of what we are and what problems we have. We are aware that something happens every game and sometimes it is very difficult to explain.”
“I also understand the players’ desire to do the right thing. Let’s just say we got off to a good start. I felt it in the last couple of minutes during the game.”
“When these things happen, as I said before, in the moment that we’re in right now, that’s unfortunately the way it is.
“Even though these slippery things happened, that explains the moment, because they didn’t do it. The pitch was the same for both teams.”
