Igor Tudor was appointed as a short-term replacement during Tottenham Hotspur’s difficult season, but there are rumors his position is under threat after just four games.
Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Igor Tudor appears to have been granted a temporary reprieve despite losing every game since taking over. Spurs have announced they will face the media at a press conference on Friday ahead of a daunting trip to Liverpool amid mounting pressure and a serious threat of relegation.
Tudor, 47, hit rock bottom after his team suffered a 5-2 first-leg defeat to Atletico Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League. A bold move to replace keeper Guglielmo Vicario in favor of Antonin Kinski, 22, failed spectacularly within 15 minutes, with the young goalkeeper being held responsible for two of Atletico’s opening three shots before being dragged off in disgrace.
Few questioned the Czech stopper’s decision to sit out the game, but former Spurs keeper Joe Hart was furious at Tudor’s refusal to admit the distraught Kinski. Tudor has had the worst opening season of any Tottenham manager in history, with many predicting the Croatian will be sacked before the trip to Anfield.

His position appears to be secure, at least for now, as the club confirmed Tudor was present at Friday’s press conference. This development virtually guarantees that Tudor will be in the red half of Merseyside’s technical area.
Tudor, who have lost four games in a row, will no doubt have their future under scrutiny if the north London club suffer a heavy defeat against Liverpool. Tottenham are on a treacherous path in the Premier League, sitting just one point above West Ham United in 18th place.

This weekend, the Hammers host Manchester City, while 17th-placed Nottingham Forest take on Fulham at the City Ground. If West Ham and Forest win and Tottenham lose, Tudor’s side will fall into the relegation zone.
There are also increasing signs that he is losing his locker room. Football London claims that a number of Spurs players believe he has appeared overly authoritarian and disrespectful since taking over.
The decisive moment happened at the Wanda Metropolitano when Kinski chose to be sent off after just 15 minutes. When the goalkeeper left the field, Tudor could not recognize him.
In response, Conor Gallagher, Joao Parinha and Dominic Solanke, who had started the game on the substitute bench, followed him into the tunnel, aware that his disastrously short appearance could have potentially devastating effects.
The Spurs team pointed out that Tudor did not offer any words of support on the pitch. He seemed hesitant to mention Kinski in the post-game interview, but at the press conference he modestly offered his support for the goalie.
“Unfortunately, these mistakes happened in this important game. He was disappointed. The team is with him and so am I,” Tudor said.
“I was talking to him. He understands the moment and understands why he is sent off. Like I said, he is a very good goalkeeper.”
“We are with him, we are all together. It’s never about one player. It happened. It’s the Champions League again. We paid for the start of this game.”
