Transfer speculation surrounding Manchester United continues to grow despite continued uncertainty over the club’s financial situation. Manager Michael Carrick will remain as caretaker manager until the end of the season, but the club are in no rush to make a decision on his permanent appointment in the summer.
Despite this, the Red Devils are looking to strengthen a squad that has grown under the former England midfielder’s guidance, with reports continuing to be linked to potential transfer targets after the campaign ends. Midfield reinforcements are expected, with Adam Wharton, Elliott Anderson and Sandro Tonali reportedly on the shortlist.
Meanwhile, the club legend has called on the Premier League giants to prioritize attacking reinforcements, while Kai Rooney continues to make further progress in his developing career. Here, Express Sport takes a look at the latest developments to emerge from Old Trafford.
Kai Rooney, who had already emulated his father Wayne as a United international, took things a step further by signing with Triple S Sports Management, the agency that looked after Wayne.
The international company, run by the United legend’s trusted agent Paul Stretford, is once again welcoming Rooney as a client, announcing the 16-year-old’s arrival on Instagram.
A statement read: “We are delighted to announce the signing of @kairooney.10 with Triple S Sports! We are excited to begin working with the Manchester United forward as he continues his journey through the game. A bright future awaits him.”
The former England striker has previously spoken about his son’s football career, insisting he prefers a hands-off approach.
Last year, Wayne said in an interview with the BBC: “He has a great coach at Manchester United so I’m taking a stand-off approach. I’ve spoken to him but for me it’s all about his mentality and mindset and making sure he continues to enjoy himself is the most important thing for me.”

The attacking front has been a cause for concern at Old Trafford for some time, but Benjamin Sesco’s recent form may have allayed some of those concerns.
However, Patrice Evra still insists on signing Real Madrid star Endrik, despite the Slovenian continuing to score impressive goals this year.
The Brazilian struggled to get game time in Spain during the first half of the season and was loaned to Lyon in the winter, where he flourished in Ligue 1.
With five goals and four assists in 10 games in all competitions, the 19-year-old is in his best form since moving to Europe in 2024.
The former United ace told Stake: “If I could sign a Man United striker, I would choose Endrick. He would be a great signing. I always loved watching Endrick, even when he was in Brazil. What happened at Real Madrid was very sad.”
“He’s done that at Lyon. Lyon has a great history of bringing in Brazilian players like Juninho and turning their careers around.”
