West Ham and Brentford faced off in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday night, but some Discovery+ viewers were unable to watch live. For unknown reasons, fans were upset because when viewers tried to stream the game via the Discovery+ app, they were sent back to the beginning of the game.
@HarryScarfe22 said: “There are other people out there who are having problems trying to attend the West Ham vs Brentford game. They won’t be able to watch it live on TNT.” @Exhoolie46 added: “Does anyone know how Discovery+ works? When I try to watch West Ham Brentford and press watch live, does it just take me to the start screen of the broadcast?”
@Mike58052135380 later said: “Disgraceful service streaming @tntsports on @discoveryplus – West Ham Brentford live stream stopped working in the second half. Discovery Plus’ online chat showed no solution. They say the problem has been resolved for customers, but there’s no sign of it being resolved. I’m paying £££ for this poor service.”
Those who couldn’t watch live missed out on an exciting cup game in which Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring in the first half. Igor Thiago equalized moments later, but after VAR intervention due to a penalty awarded for a foul on Michael Cayode, the Hammers regained the advantage with another shot on target from Bowen.
Thiago then netted from 12 yards to go, sending the game into extra time, which was ultimately decided by a spot kick. All five West Ham players scored, but Dango Outtala was the only player to try a panenka, which was easily caught by Alphonse Areola.
West Ham won 5-4 on penalties and will now play Leeds United at home in the quarter-finals. Other places in the last eight include Arsenal vs. Southampton, Chelsea vs. Port Vale and, perhaps the highlight, Manchester City vs. Liverpool.
Most of the teams mentioned above currently have their eyes on the Champions League, with the latter facing Galatasaray on Tuesday, City facing Real Madrid and Chelsea facing Paris Saint-Germain. Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United are the other English teams playing this midweek.
The Gunners face Bayer Leverkusen, Eddie Howes faces Spanish giants Barcelona in a last-16 tie, and Spurs face domestic rivals Atletico Madrid next week. Bayern Munich vs. Atalanta and Sporting CP vs. Bodø/Glimt will be the last 16 fixtures.
