What did the manager say?
“I think he (Fernandez) has more players now. I felt that on the tour. Now I feel that there are more players helping them lead the group. That’s good. But he’s our leader.
“He lives with examples and he works really hard (he) is always available. Sometimes he plays with pain. The problem sometimes gets frustrated and sometimes he loses the focus of his work a little.
“Sometimes, he wants to help his teammates that much, so sometimes that’s not the best. Bruno has to wait for the ball in a variety of situations. This kind of thing is the leader, but he needs help.
What did the player say?
“I think they have to be patient with us,” he said. “We have new managers with new players and new tactics.

“I know that last season wasn’t really good for the team, but I think we’ve got a lot of wins with him this season, and I hope we’ll achieve a lot of good things by the end of the season.
“A good season will be the top five, and I hope we can achieve that top five at the end of the season.
“The whole game was good. We were good with the ball. The manager was asking, so we could have kept it in possession for a while – we rushed in the last third as we were trying to score a goal. We’ll work on that.”

Matheus Cunha made his debut against Leeds following a £62.5 million move from Wolverhampton Wanderlers. The Brazilian played the opening 45 minutes and was unable to ride the scoresheet, but Amorim was impressed with his performance.
“I think Matheus Cunha showed us what we needed, he’s a player,” the United boss said. “When he receives the ball between the lines, he can really be aggressive in the direction of the opponent.
“I saw (Cunha) on another team last season, so I hope for the same.
“We see that he and Bruno (Fernandez)’s connection is not there yet, but it’s going to be a good connection because we can have players like Cobby (Main) or Mason Mount there. We need to improve the quality in the last third.”
Cunha then played 66 minutes with Bruno Fernandes to win West Ham and began locking down midfield positions on the left as they made their way into the season opener.
Teenager Diego Leon also first appeared in the Red Devils with Leeds and delivered a lively 45-minute cameo that received praise from his manager.
“We have to understand that our child (Leon) came from Paraguay, his second week at Manchester United,” explained Amorim.
“He’s done really well, he’s learning things, he’s strong. He’s going to be a very good player.”
He then backed it up from the bench against West Ham and traded Patrick Dorg after 66 minutes to help the Reds hold the victory.
Bryan Mbeumo has yet to make his debut for his new club after completing his transfer from Brentford on Monday.
Cameroon International traveled to the state and was able to make a friendly debut with United’s friendly Bournemouth on Thursday.
