Paul Scholes hit Michael Carrick after Manchester United’s defeat to Newcastle on Wednesday, but now Patrice Evra hit back, targeting both Gary Neville and Roy Keane.
Patrice Evra has criticized three Manchester United legends from his time as manager Michael Carrick with “negative analysis”. Former United star Evra criticized Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Paul Scholes, with the latter making headlines earlier this week.
On Wednesday, after United lost 2-1 away to Newcastle 10-a-side, their first defeat under Carrick, Scholes posted a brutal Instagram story, which he later deleted. “Michael definitely has something special,” Scholes wrote. “United have been crap the last four games…night.”
Scholes’ comments have perplexed parts of the United fan base, with some believing he has been overly critical of the club for a long time. Now Evra has chimed in, slamming Scholes as well as Neville and Keane, who have also been accused of negative comments.
“I hope Paul Scholes’ Instagram story is fake,” Evra told gambling website Stake. “I hope he’s been hacked.

“To be honest, I’m not surprised by what Scholesi said. He’s been the quietest player I’ve ever played with in my career, and now he’s making bombshells in the media.
“I really don’t understand the lack of support behind Michael Carrick. He’s one of us and he’s doing very well. There’s been some negative analysis, not only from Mr Scholecy but also from Roy Keane and Gary Neville.
“It’s frustrating because we want to be in the top four and comments like that are unnecessary, but this is what you do in TV work. You can’t be positive, you have to be negative.”
Focusing solely on Neville, Evra added: “Most of them get into management positions and then get fired. I said to Neville, ‘It’s easy to talk on TV. When we were in Valencia, they asked for paella and you gave them fish and chips.'”

“Three months later, they parted ways. People can’t forget what they’ve done as managers. They’re legends as players, but they haven’t done a great job as managers. So for them to speak out and potentially ruin a manager’s career is a little too much.
United got off to a great start under Carrick, winning four games in a row before drawing 1-1 with West Ham. The Red Devils had returned to form before Wednesday’s defeat, winning games against Everton and Crystal Palace.
Despite the defeat, Carrick’s side remain third in the Premier League table and on track to qualify for the Champions League in 2026-27. United next host fourth-placed Aston Villa on Sunday 15th March.
