Manchester City fell behind in the Premier League title race, drawing 2-2 with Nottingham Forest, but Bernardo Silva was furious at the referee.
Bernardo Silva has slammed referee Darren England and VAR officials after Manchester City’s title hopes were severely crushed by Nottingham Forest.
City’s captain claimed that Mats Sells brought down Erling Haaland when the home side were leading 2-1 in the second half. But England ignored Silva’s pleas and Elliott Anderson equalized for Forest three minutes later, dealing a huge blow to City’s Premier League challenge and giving Arsenal a 1-0 win over Brighton, leaving them seven points clear at the top of the table.
Silva fumed: “The incident with Erling? For me it’s a penalty. What can Erling do? This season, we’re used to it, we know how it works. 50-50 everyone has been against us.”
Manager Josep Guardiola declined to discuss the incident or any other fine requests, saying: “We talked about it a few weeks ago. I always think that we should do better so that the authorities don’t intervene. It’s our responsibility to do better so that we don’t have to rely on the authorities. I have nothing more to say. I’ve said it in the past.”

And Silva agreed with his manager, adding: “Our job is to get better. These things are out of our control. What we can control is our own performance.”
“I was playing at home and I was leading twice, but I couldn’t get a result, so I was very disappointed. We had a lot of chances at the end, but they led twice and scored two goals. That’s what happens in soccer. That’s what soccer is like.”
“They were patient enough to punish us when we had a counter, but I think we had to win with the chances we created. But football is like this sometimes.”
Rodri put City back in the lead after Morgan Gibbs-White canceled out Antoine Semenho’s opener and Elliott Anderson handed Vitor Pereira’s side a vital point in their battle for survival.
Pereira was happy with his team, saying: “It was a tough game, but the team was full of character. It’s not easy to perform at this level after five games in 15 days, but there were some good moments of football, good team spirit and I’m also happy for the players.”
“It was important to come here and prove that we can get points anywhere. It doesn’t matter whether it’s at City or another club. The important thing is to believe in ourselves and prove that we can play good football.”
