Arsenal’s approach to matches has come under criticism recently, with Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler accusing Arteta’s side of “making up their own rules” after the Gunners’ 1-0 win on Wednesday.
“They’re showing championship form,” Cole told TNT Sports. “Bukayo Saka has been criticized a little bit (before Wednesday night) and I don’t understand that. I think he’s a top player and he had a little bit of luck (with the goal).”
“But they were resilient and strong (against Brighton) and got the job done.
“Everything you can label as champions they have achieved and Manchester City are just struggling to hang in there.”

Peter Crouch added: “I don’t think the Brighton manager (Fabian Hürzeler) is too happy with how they’re playing, but they’re winning games, aren’t they?”
“I have to say I played on some shaky teams, but if you get the job done, you get people involved.”
Asked by presenter Becky Ives if Arsenal are now all about “winning as much as possible”, Cole continued: “That’s true. At any level, at any form of football, you don’t win titles unless you win games where you have to roll up your sleeves. Maybe I’m not flowing enough.”
“I think about Arsenal teams over the last 20 years, when they were a great team, they were accused of being a subversive team.

Hürzeler: Premier League needs to ‘find rules’ to eradicate ‘waste of time’

“They would go to Crouchey Stoke or something like that (and lose) but this team is different and they are miles from there now.
“They’re an ‘outstalking’ team when they need to be. And they’re outclassing them. I think they’re a top, top team.”
“I’ve always been rooting for them to win the title. I think the title is in their hands.”
Arteta is likely to rotate his squad after a disastrous Premier League encounter, with Declan Rice limping off in the 2-1 win over Chelsea but was fine to start against Brighton.
