Arsenal academy product Miles Lewis-Skelly made his breakthrough in 2024-25, but lost his place in Mikel Arteta’s side to the impressive Riccardo Calafioli this year.
Ray Parlor believes Miles Lewis-Skelly and his agents will seek clarity from Mikel Arteta about his future after falling down the table this season.
The versatile Arsenal star, 19, made his breakthrough in the 2024-25 season, making 42 appearances for the Gunners and securing his place at left-back. However, this term Riccardo Calafioli replaced Lewis Skelly, with the teenager starting just one Premier League game.
Lewis-Skelly’s form was rewarded with a new contract in the summer. However, Arsenal Invincibles member Parler has warned Arteta that Louis Skelly and his agent want “confrontational negotiations” with the Spaniard, who has spent the season on the sidelines.
Asked if Lewis-Skelly would seek reassurance in the summer, Parlor told Metro: “I’m sure he will. He and his agent will go to see Arteta and ask him what the future holds.”

“I don’t think they want him to leave. There could be a loan situation. Hincapie has a great contract and of course Calafioli is a top player and first choice.”
“There’s a lot of competition. You want to keep young players around, but people get frustrated when they’re not playing. He has to bide his time.”
Despite manager Thomas Tuchel handing Louis Skelly his senior international debut last season, there is still a possibility that Louis Skelly will struggle to break into England’s World Cup squad due to his lack of starting appearances in the Premier League.
After excluding Lewis-Skelly from his squad for November’s international tournament, Tuchel warned: “Miles is a very good team-mate and played for us in our final World Cup qualifying camp in Riga, as did Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Morgan Gibbs-White and James Trafford.
“But last time I said there is an element of competition and performance to it and the door is always open to players who perform at a high level on a regular basis.
“Myles, Ruben and Morgan performed better in their positions than Nico O’Reilly, Alex Scott, Nick Pope and Jude.
“Miles needs more starts, more minutes. It’s time for Nico O’Reilly to get more starts at that position, so he’s a little ahead of the curve in this camp.”
