Spain are scheduled to play Argentina in the final in Qatar later this month, but officials have issued a statement regarding the match amid an escalating conflict in the Middle East.
Despite growing concerns over Middle East conflict, the upcoming showdown between Spain and Argentina is still expected to be held in Qatar. Following the US decision to attack, Iran fired missiles at neighboring countries.
And with that, soccer in the Middle Eastern country came to a rapid halt. The final match between Argentina and Spain is scheduled to be held in Lusail on March 27th.
However, Spain’s leaders remain keen to stage the match and have not received any specific instructions from any governing body at this time. Álvaro de Miguel, secretary general of the Spanish Football Federation, said: “While the situation on the ground is worrying, the Finalissima remains uninterrupted.
“Qatar has announced that they will suspend competition until further notice, but that does not mean this match will be cancelled. We have sporting plans to play against Argentina and Egypt. It is true that we will have to wait, but we maintain that desire.

“It is too early to make a diagnosis as to whether the match will take place or whether it will take place in Qatar.
“We will hold a working meeting with UEFA and Conmebol to assess the actual scope of the dispute and consider how to manage this match.
“It’s too early to judge, but this week will be decisive in knowing what will happen in this game. We need guarantees that conditions will remain safe and calm for us wherever we play. We hope to have news soon.”

Regarding the current situation, UEFA said: “UEFA is closely monitoring the situation and is liaising with participating teams and local authorities as necessary.
“All matches scheduled to take place in Europe in the coming weeks are currently scheduled to take place as scheduled.
“With regard to the Finalissima scheduled for March 27, UEFA, in cooperation with CONMEBOL and LOC, is monitoring and carefully assessing all developments in the situation.”
Spain defeated Colombia in the 2024 Copa America, securing a spot in the Finalissima. Meanwhile, Spain will defeat England in the 2024 Euro final and enter the match as the current European champions.
Of course, the last World Cup was hosted by Qatar, and Argentina won the championship four years ago. The next tournament will be held in the United States.
