Florian Wirths has missed Liverpool’s remaining two games with a back injury, and manager Arne Slott gave an update on Tuesday ahead of the first of two trips to Wolves.
Florian Wirths is likely to miss Liverpool’s next two games, with the club planning his return from a hip injury. Werts missed the wins against Nottingham Forest and West Ham and manager Arn Slott said he was likely to miss the back-to-back games against Wolves.
Wirtz has been on a roll in 2026, recording four goals and two assists in six games in January. However, he suffered an injury during the warm-up and was absent from the team that beat Forest 1-0 on 22 February.
The German playmaker was also absent from Saturday’s 5-2 win over West Ham, meaning Tuesday’s game against Wolves, bottom of the Premier League, will be played too soon.
Asked about Wirtz in Monday morning’s pregame press conference, Slott said, “Nothing changes from what I said after the game.” “It’s probably too early for tomorrow’s game and it’s probably going to be a weekend game. Hopefully he’ll be back next week.”

Ahead of the game against West Ham, Slott explained the situation in more detail. “I don’t know at this point,” he said of a possible schedule. “Normally I know it and don’t want to share it, but this time, I honestly don’t know.
“It’s a big accomplishment for Wirtz to stay healthy for this long because he needed to step up from where he was playing in the Premier League and with Liverpool. It says a lot about his mentality and work rate that he was able to stay healthy for this long. It’s disappointing for him and for us because he’s been playing really, really well lately.”
Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer for £116 million, Wirtz has made 35 appearances for Liverpool, scoring six goals and providing eight assists. Although he regained his rhythm in January, he is in no rush to return and could be targeted for next Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Galatasaray.

Slott brought back Jeremy Frimpong against West Ham after a month on the sidelines. “Right-back is not the only position we have struggled with, but it is the one that stands out the most,” he said when asked about the Dutchman.
“It’s great to have Jeremy back. We have to take into account a lot of games, especially players coming back from injury, but we understand the importance of every game now. But I’m not the only one who thinks so.
“I prefer to control how many minutes he gets rather than seeing him with the medical team.”
Liverpool currently face Wolves in the Premier League on Tuesday and in the FA Cup on Friday, with both games taking place at Molineux. Asked about the oddity of the schedule, Slott said, “Usually the only people that the schedule helps with are the analysts and me. It allows us to analyze them.”
