Manchester United were given a way back into the Premier League game against Crystal Palace after Maxence Lacroix was sent off and Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty.
Manchester United were given a lifeline in Sunday’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace thanks to a controversial penalty and red card.
Michael Carrick’s side were behind early on at Old Trafford, with Maxence Lacroix’s arcing header beating Senne Lamence. United were frustrated by the Eagles for the rest of the first half, but the second half gave the Eagles a chance to take control of the game.
Matheus Cunha fired on goal after a pass from Bruno Fernandes, but Lacroix forced the Brazilian into the box. Referee Chris Kavanagh signaled a penalty.

Moments later, he was directed to the on-field VAR screen before declaring the Palace player dismissed.
“Upon review, Crystal Palace’s number five committed a clear holding offense, denying a clear scoring opportunity,” Kavanagh said.
“The final decision is a penalty and a red card.”
Fernandes converted the penalty kick to tie the score. Benjamin Sesco then put United ahead from a wonderful cross from Fernandes, extending his impressive scoring streak and completing United’s turnaround.
After making a goal-scoring return from injury in Thursday night’s UEFA Conference League game, Lacroix’s heavy involvement in the game raised questions about whether he would be able to start for Palace.
While the Eagles were away in Europe, United looked to make the most of the extra time to prepare for the Premier League fixtures.
With numerical superiority and extra rest, United were able to finish the game looking to continue their run under manager Michael Carrick. It was the team’s sixth win in seven games since taking over as interim coach.
