Harry Maguire’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain as his contract expires at the end of the season
Manchester United have already confirmed the departure of experienced Casemiro and are “concerned” about losing Harry Maguire. Maguire’s current contract with United is due to expire at the end of the season, and rumors continue to swirl as to whether the England international will sign a contract extension.
United activated an additional 12-month option on Maguire’s contract in January last year, which expires at the end of the current campaign.
Maguire, 32, has spent much of the season on the sidelines recovering from injury but has become a key player at the heart of United’s defense since Michael Carrick was appointed as the club’s interim head coach last month.
The England international, who turns 33 next week, can now speak to clubs outside England about a pre-contract agreement that would see him leave United as a free agent if he wishes. He has already turned down approaches from Brendan Rodgers’ new club Al Qadosia in Saudi Arabia and AC Milan this year.

The Daily Mail reports that United are “concerned” that Maguire will leave the club at the same time as Casemiro, with the Red Devils reluctant to lose so much experience.

The Brazilian confirmed earlier this season that he would leave United when his contract expires this summer, a move that will save the Red Devils millions of pounds.
Casemiro currently earns £300,000-a-week at United, but the club will save £15.6m a year if they do not sign the midfielder to a new contract on the same salary.
It remains to be seen what Maguire’s future holds, with United said to be keen to sign him to a new contract, but for a cut in wages of £180,000 a week. However, the England international wants some security over the length of his contract, which could be a stumbling block.
Carrick has already outlined the importance of Maguire to his plans at United, highlighting the defender’s experience and character in the dressing room and on the pitch.
“Harry is a memorable character,” Carrick said Friday. “He has had a great career so far and I hope there is much more to come.
“He’s been here, and since he’s been in England, the journey and the experience he’s had here. I think that just shows who he is.”
“I think we all know what kind of player he is and what he can do. And I thought he was fantastic the other night (against Everton).”
“The experience helps, his attributes help with that, his character, his willingness to put himself forward, he’s been really impressive and really important to us.”
