Premier League teams now know more about their Champions League last 16 opponents after the end of the play-offs. There are still six players left in England’s top flight for the last 16.

Current Premier League champions Liverpool have automatically qualified for the next stage and are ready for the knockout stages. They were joined by current league leaders Arsenal.

Manchester City and Chelsea were also among the teams that automatically qualified for the last 16. Newcastle, on the other hand, had some work to do as they were unable to secure a top-eight finish.

However, they managed to prevail in the end and defeated Qarabag 9-2 on aggregate. The draw for the last 16 will take place on Friday morning, which will determine who will qualify for the final in Budapest.

However, with all playoff points settled, each team can narrow down their potential opponents to two. At Mirror Football, you can see the options for each team in the Premier League.

chelsea

Chelsea could face a Premier League side called Newcastle after Eddie Howe’s side comfortably defeated Qarabag. Or the Blues’ opponents could be French.

Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco faced off in the playoffs, with the former winning a dramatic 4-3 on aggregate.

newcastle

Newcastle could face Chelsea on the European stage, but the Magpies could face an even tougher draw after facing Barcelona.

The Spanish champions also finished the league stage in fifth place, automatically qualifying for the next round.

arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s side already knew Bayer Leverkusen could be in store for them in the last 16. And in a draw, Kai Havertz and Piero Hincapie will face their former teams.

But that is not the only option for the north London side. Atalanta, whose Italian team defeated Borussia Dortmund in a stunning come-from-behind victory in the playoffs, is also a potential opponent.

manchester city

City will now face two teams they played against in the group stage. On paper, a draw with Bodo/Glimt looks far more preferable than a draw with Real Madrid.

However, Bodo were better than Josep Guardiola’s side in the Arctic, while City emerged victorious against struggling Real at the Bernabéu. While Los Blancos worked hard to defeat Benfica, the Norwegians were even more impressive in the play-offs, easily defeating Inter.

liverpool

Current Premier League champions Liverpool are aiming to add to the six European titles they have already won. However, they face a difficult draw in the last 16.

The Reds are scheduled to face Atletico Madrid, who defeated Club Brugge on their way to the finals. Arne Slott’s side could also face Galatasaray after finding a way to beat Juventus in Turin after a thrilling draw that went into extra time.

tottenham

Igor Tudor’s side are drawn with Liverpool and Atletico Madrid could be in store. Galatasaray are also potential opponents for the north London side.

Possible Champions League Round of 16 fixtures

Arsenal/Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen/Atalanta

Chelsea/Barcelona vs Newcastle/PSG

Liverpool/Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid/Galatasaray

Man City/Sporting vs Real Madrid/Bodo Grimt

*Seed teams will play their second match at home.
